HOW TO BREAK FREE OF LIMITING BELIEFS

Do a mindset upgrade!

 

Do you feel like making change is a struggle?  Perhaps you feel like you are doing everything right, yet aren’t getting the results you want? Or you know what you need to do to be successful, but you just can’t muster up the energy to do it?

 

If you relate to this, take heart.  You may not getting the results you want because there are some hidden limiting beliefs in your subconscious holding you back.

 

Limiting beliefs, only have power when they go un-noticed. Then they have free reign and can easily sabotage your efforts to be successful and live your life to the fullest!

 

It’s time to do a mindset upgrade and get your subconscious on board with your goals!

 

Let the mindset upgrade begin!

 

5 STEPS TO BREAK FREE OF LIMITING BELIEFS!


STEP 1: IDENTIFY your limiting beliefs!!  And write them down.

How do you identify these pesky buggers?

Limiting beliefs sound like excuses or reasons

Anything you say to yourself to justify why it isn’t working out for you.

For example, ‘Everyone in my family is overweight.  It’s in my DNA to be overweight.  There’s nothing I can do about it.’

 

STEP 2:  THESE ARE ONLY BELIEFS, NOT ABSOLUTE TRUTHS!

You might find yourself defending your belief.  It may sound perfectly logical and valid. You may have a mountain of evidence proving these beliefs are true!  So, this may be one of the harder steps….to acknowledge that these are only beliefs, not truths.  You have a choice here:  You can decide which is more important to you:  Defending your limiting belief, and letting go of your goals and desires?  Or, letting go of your limiting belief and opening you mind up to new possibilities.

 

STEP 3:  DISPROVE / CHALLENGE THE BELIEF

Challenge it!  Seek out new evidence to disprove your belief!

For example, if your belief is “healthy food tastes bad.”  Ask yourself, is that true 100% of the time?  How can I find healthy food that does taste good?  I can research recipes that are both healthy and delicious!  You’ve just disproved your belief!

 

Here are some questions you can ask yourself to disprove a limiting belief:

  1. Is it true 100% of the time?  Is it 100% true?

  2. Is there another possibility?

  3. Are there any exceptions or examples to the contrary?

  4. Can I find a better/healthier way to …

 

STEP 4:  Replace it with an EMPOWERING belief!

Following the example above, say out loud – “There is healthy food that does taste good!” And make a list!

 

The trick is to go beyond just saying it. You really want to step into this new belief and feel how it feels in your body.  So, in this example, when you eat a healthy food you do enjoy, say out loud, “There is healthy food that does taste good!”

 

STEP 5:  REAFFIRM YOUR POSITIVE BELIEF THROUGH ACTION!

For example, perhaps you have decided that you have shifted a limiting belief of “It’s impossible to eat enough vegetables everyday” To a new positive belief that “I can eat enough veggies everyday.”  Now reinforce this belief by taking action!

 

So, if you want to eat veggies everyday, do so.  

 

The way we reprogram our brain is through consistency and repetition!  It doesn’t matter how big or small our action is, it just needs to happen everyday.   Even the smallest actions will solidify your new EMPOWERING choice!

 

Also, acknowledge yourself when you’ve taken that step.  This will reinforce a new way of believing and acting! 

 

 

For example, you could start by eating one baby carrot everyday.  While you eat it, tell yourelf with every bite, “I am eating vegetables everyday.  I eat veggies every day!  It’s easy for me to eat veggies everyday!”

 

This will, over time, will forge a new neuropathway in the brain, so that eating veggies will no longer be an act of will power, but a healthy habit!

 

 

To recap, how to replace limiting beliefs with empowering ones you:

  1. Identify them

  2. Realize that they are only beliefs, not truths!

  3. Disprove the belief

  4. Replace it with a more empowering belief

  5. Take consistent action!!
